Mary and Jim Bishop Scholarship

The Mary and Jim Bishop Scholarship Fund is established to honor the Bishop Family, longtime residents and civic leaders in the Coastal Georgia region. Jim Bishop served as a member of the Board of Regents from 2007 through 2011, chairing the Academic Affairs and Medical education expansion Committees and the University System of Georgia Foundation. As a Regent, Jim Bishop spearheaded the conversion of the College of Coastal Georgia into a vibrant, comprehensive undergraduate institution. He remains active in supporting and guiding the College as it continues its growth and quality development.

The Mary and Jim Bishop Scholarship shall be provided annually to a student enrolled at the College of Coastal Georgia who makes application for the scholarship and meets the following eligibility guidelines:

successfully completed the core curriculum and has been admitted into the Bachelor of Science in Public affairs degree program;
achieved and maintains a GPA of 3.0 or better;
enrolled as a full time student (12 hours or more per semester);
recommended for the scholarship by the dean in the school of Business and Public affairs
continues matriculating successfully through the degree program.

The scholarship may be awarded for two consecutive years, provided the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria. The Mary and Jim Bishop Scholarship is designed to support students in their public affairs studies and to encourage them to model behaviors of service and stewardship exhibited by the Bishops across their personal and professional lives.
