Dinos-Liggin Women's Endowed Golf Scholarship
Mary and Jack Dinos have been supporters of the College of Coastal Georgia for a decade and exhibit a love for the game of golf. As a valued friend and partner of the College, Jack Dinos began his service as a Trustee of the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation on July 1, 2009. He brings unparalleled insight and strategic advice on the College’s expansion.
They also established the Mary and Jack Dinos Men’s and Women’s Golf Scholarships at the College of Coastal Georgia in April 2010 to provide the means for the College of Coastal Georgia to attract the best and brightest athletes from across the Southeast region.
Most recently in 2014, Mr. Dinos established the Dinos – Liggin Women’s Endowed Golf Scholarship to honor Christian Liggin ‘14 (BS, Health Informatics), College of Coastal Georgia’s first recipient of the Mary B. Dinos Endowed Scholarship for Women’s Golf.
As a college senior, Liggin helped her team to four wins, including the SSAC Championship, the first conference title to date for a Mariner team at the four-year college level. She won two of her six career wins as a senior – the St. Andrews Invitational and the SSAC Tournament- as well as playing in the team’s first appearance at the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship, where the Mariners finished tied for sixth overall. Christian made the All-Tournament Team for the second consecutive year by tying for eighth individually at the national championship. She was named an NAIA Second-Team All-American and selected for SSAC All-Conference and All-Academic teams.
As a college junior, Liggin set records as she played in nine tournaments, finishing with a 77 .21 stroke average which is the lowest single-season average in the Mariners’ program history. Her 69 score in the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational ranks as the lowest single-round score in the program’s history and she recorded five top-5 finishes which ties the most in the program’s history.
She was named the team’s MVP for both the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons.
An honor graduate of Lee County High School and the 2010 Albany Herald Player of the Year, Liggin lettered in softball for two years and in golf for three. She was named to the all-region and all-state golf teams for both her junior and senior years as well.
