Sea Island Property Owners Association (SIPOA) Scholars Program
The Sea Island Property Owners Association has established the SIPOA Scholars Program is offered exclusively to:
(1) Qualified Team Members (as defined below) of the Sea Island Company and (2) the Eligible Dependents (as defined below) of such team members who, in the case of either (1) or (2) are now attending or who plan in the next fall semester to attend the College of Coastal Georgia.
Qualified Team Members must meet the criteria set forth? and be in good standing with Sea Island Company as defined by the Department of Human Resources at Sea Island Company (“HR Department”)
Team Member Eligibility: In order to qualify to participate in this program, a team member (“Qualified Team Member”) is limited to team members who meet all of the following criteria: Non-management employees of the Sea Island Company having non-exempt status (hourly) Full-time or regular employment status with the Sea Island Company Minimum one year of employment service with the Sea Island Company
Dependent Eligibility: The Scholar program is available to an Eligible Dependent of a Qualified Team Member, which means the current spouse, child (including legally adopted child), grandchild, or legal dependent of such Qualified Team Member, and such team member or Eligible Dependent of such team member taking advantage of the scholarship program, as the case may be, meets the following eligibility requirements: Enrolled for the College of Coastal Georgia’s next fall semester or having been accepted for such enrollment at the College of Coastal Georgia wit the goal and intent ultimately to achieve a bachelor’s degree 2.8 GPA or above at the College of Coastal Georgia, if currently attending, or the college or high school most recently attended, as is applicable Considered in"good academic standing and making satisfactory academic progress at the College of Coastal Georgia, as is applicable Must agree to participate in the SIPOA Mentor Program
Process and Procedures to Qualify: Qualified Team Members and Eligible Dependents applying for the scholars program receive, complete and submit to the HR Department the scholarship application supplied by the HR Department of Sea Island Company.?Qualified Team Members and Eligible Dependents then apply through the College of Coastal Georgia scholarship portal located in the students MyCCGA portal The College of Coastal Georgia verifies the eligibility of applicants with the HR Department of Sea Island Company Qualified students are selected by the College among the submitted applications and notified of the award. In addition to need, preference will be given by the College to applications for selection based on academic standing and desire, leadership qualities, community involvement, and such other favorable character and citizenship criteria as the College deems appropriate. Recipients are provided a certificate stating they have received a College of Coastal Georgia Scholarship naming them a"SIPOA Scholaronce the scholarship acceptance requirements are fulfilled.? ?A list of award recipients is provided to the Chairman of the SIPOA Scholarship Committee.? ?Award recipients are assigned a volunteer mentor.
Renewal Terms: A student may be eligible for up to four years of scholarship support, provided, however that each award is for one academic year commencing with the fall semester, and that a new application must be submitted for each additional year. Preference will be given to existing award recipients who meet the following requirements: Receive, and submit, a letter of satisfactory involvement in the mentoring program Enrolled for the College of Coastal Georgia’s next fall semester 3.2 GPA or above at the College of Coastal Georgia Considered in good academic standing and making satisfactory academic progress at the College of Coastal Georgia, of than attending.
