Ted Rice Memorial Entrepreneur Scholarship
The Ted Rice Memorial Entrepreneur Scholarship was established by his wife Caryl Rice to honor his legacy as an entrepreneur. Theodore Albert (Ted) Rice was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1946. He graduated from Grove City High School and followed his family into the railroad business. He enlisted in the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. Back home he attended Franklin University earning a bachelor’s degree in business. After graduation, he worked for a wide array of businesses and corporations. One area in particular was working in insurance. He also became an advocate for veterans and veterans benefits. His last position before creating his own business was working for the State of Ohio as the Director of Self Insurance. Ultimately, with all his experience he founded Ricwel Corporation. Ricwel provided expert medical testimony for litigated cases. He eventually merged his business and it became part of ExamWorks. A major highlight for him was standing on the New York Stock Exchange floor when the company went public. With the creation of the Ted Rice Entrepreneur Scholarship the passion he had for creating opportunities for others will be passed on to the student of the College of Coastal Georgia.
