Torras Foundation Scholarship for Law Enforcement Families
The Torras Foundation Scholarship for Law Enforcement Families is established as a “current use” scholarship, generating scholarship awards for deserving students at the College of Coastal Georgia.
About the Donor:
Beginning with Bob and Susan Torras, the Torras family have been long-time supporters ofthe College of Coastal Georgia. The Torras Foundation was established prior to Bob’s death to benefit the communities where he and his family have lived and worked. The current board members of the Torras Foundation are as follows: Deborah Torras, Bob Torras, Jr., Brian Torras, Michael Torras, Daren Pietsch, and Eric Tiller.
To Qualify:
The recipient must be a spouse or child of an active law enforcement officer of Glynn County, Georgia. An active law enforcement officer from Glynn County, Georgia, may also be eligible, provided the agency the law enforcement officer is employed by does not have a current employee tuition reimbursement plan.
Eligible Law Enforcement Agencies include:
Glynn County Police, Brunswick City Police, Glynn County Sheriff’s Office
Scholarships shall be awarded to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need.
Students are expected to have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3 .0.
In awarding scholarships, first preference shall be given to qualified students from Glynn County, Georgia.
In any year, when no student is identified who meets the first preference criteria, or if additional scholarship awards are available, the next preference shall be given to qualified students from the following counties in the State of Georgia: McIntosh, Camden, Wayne, and Brantley, provided the parent or spouse in an active law enforcement officer in one of the listed counties.
In any year, when no student is identified who meets the first or second preference criteria, or if additional scholarship awards are available, then preference shall be given to qualified students who are residents of the State of Georgia, provided the parent or spouse in an active law enforcement officer within the state of Georgia.
Preference shall be given to students who are current recipients of the scholarship.
